What most struck me about this part of Ireland was how very, very beautiful it was. The changes in weather, which happen so abruptly, transform the coastline from prettiness to brooding majesty. In Sligo great peaks loom on the horizon and the ocean is so powerful, smashing and grinding against the shores. It really is a special place.
And Giant's Causeway, as you'll know, is unique, with its mighty columns of stone festooned with humans.
